Saturday 17 December - in conjunction with the Cracker Christmas Festival

Well the township came alive with all sorts of Christmas treats to make it a day to remember, even though the weather was less than summery, it certainly gave us that festive feel with snow in the forum !!
This year the event was combined with the Cracker Christmas Festival ensuring an even bigger and better Festival day with an increased attendance, with over 6000 attending the parade.
The Christmas Parade commenced at 2pm with the most floats ever...37 all beautifully decorated with that festive feel and cheery faces; a boat, a steam engine, a fire engine, gingerbread house, a train and even a nightmare before Christmas snowman !! The pre-parade concert at 1pm featured local entertainers, Mr Whippy, Pom Pom the Clown, Ronald McDonald and a guest appearance from Santa Claus himself certainly got the little ones excited before the many floats took to the streets.
After all the excitement of the Parade there was even more reason to stay in town this year as the Cracker Christmas Festival kicked off at 3pm with live entertainment, buskers and more!
Thank you to the following organisations who provided the many prizes for the float winners - Argosy Restaurant bar & cafe, Annies Marlborough Ltd, Top Town Cinemas, Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre, EcoWorld Aquarium, Subway, Golfers World, Raupo Riverside Cafe, Domino's Pizza and Basis.
And a big thank you to all the other float entrants, alot of effort went into creating some wonderful decorative floats. We look forward to seeing you all again next year....
